She looked into the mirror, and scowled at what was in there. Sitting cross-legged in front of the mirror, she pointed a finger at It. It pointed back.
“ I don’t like you.”
It replied, “ Like you, I do.”
“ You’re not pretty, you’re not smart and you’re not rich. What good are you?”
It replied, “ Good, you are.”
They sat, staring at each other. Shaking her head, feeling miserable, she told It,
“ I got a C on my English paper today.”
Nodding happily, It replied, “ Me too.”
“ I am terrible at English. My teacher must hate me.”
It replied, “ Terrible, I am. Hate me.”
“ I got detention because I didn’t do my history homework. It was awful.”
It replied, “ Awful, I am. Homework, do.”
“ But I hate doing my homework. I hate school. It’s a waste of time.”
It replied, “ Hate, a waste of time.”
“ I wish I was pretty, smart and rich.”
It replied, “ Pretty, smart and rich, I am.”
Crying, she asked It,
“ But am I any good?”
Smiling, It replied, “ Good, you are.”
“ You’re lucky to be the opposite of me.”
It replied, “ You are me.”
